Communion Breakfast to Commemorate the
60th Anniversary (1949 – 2009)
of the founding of
Lansdale Catholic High School
(Little Flower Catholic High School of Lansdale)
Sunday, November 29, 2009
What a
Success!
Wow! What might have been a first ever Lansdale
Catholic Communion Breakfast was a great success. It was organized
by the Friends and Alumni of LC, Inc. to commemorate the opening of
the school (as Little Flower Catholic High School of Lansdale) back
in 1949, 60 years ago. More than 100 friends, alums, and some of
their children gathered on Sunday, November 29, first for the 8:30
am Mass at St. Stanislaus Church In Lansdale The Mass was celebrated
by the pastor, Monsignor Tracy, who, in his opening remarks, went
out of his way to welcome all the alumni who were present as well as
the friends of Lansdale Catholic. In his brief talk, he recounted
some of the history of the school and praised those who remained
loyal. His words were inspiring and well received by those in
attendance. Following the Mass, the group then reassembled at
Marjeane’s for a buffet breakfast and program, wherein a
representative from each decade offered remarks about what school
was like in their era. A highlight of the morning was the attendance
by Sister George Ellen, OSF who was only the second religious to
teach at the school. Bringing current day relevance to the morning
was the attendance by three LC seniors, who did not hesitate to
speak about their affection for the school. Also on display in the
dining area was memorabilia from each of the decades. Winding up the
morning’s celebration was a rousing rendition of the alma mater,
headed up by John O’Hara. There are many people to thank for
organizing the event, but special recognition has to go to the Zoto
group, but in particular to Mickey Algeo, without whose energy and
effort it would not have happened.

What is going on? In the January 31,

to the construction of the new school in Hilltown, one on the
cover page, and one on page 27. In both of the articles,
the reference to the new school in Hilltown is prefaced by the
words "Pending funding".

Once again, "Putting Children in
Harms Way"
If the Archdiocese proceeds with
its plans to locate the new high school at the site in
Hilltown Township, it would not be unreasonable to expect
that of the anticipated 1,200 enrollment, probably 800 of
them will have to travel the treacherous and unsafe Hilltown
Pike two times a day.
Is this not a callous disregard
for their safety? Haven't they learned?

Surveys, and enrollment in the Hilltown area grade schools,
