We feel
very strongly about Catholic education and recognize that the youth
are the future of the Church. We believe LC at its present site is
best located to serve the greatest number of students at the most
economical cost.
Lansdale Catholic should stay in Lansdale. Let the Archdiocese
build another school in Hilltown, and let the chips fall as they
may. My bet is that LC will continue to attract as many students is
it presently does.
Large
consolidated schools are not the answer to the archdiocese's
"problem" with LC. I agree that the present school is probably too
small, but the adjacent land should not have been sold off for
development which only adds to the problem.
In a
time when more religious institutions (including the Catholic
Church) are reexamining their commitment to the environment and to
our responsibility as stewards of the earth, it makes no sense to
move a school to an area that would be entirely dependent on motor
vehicle traffic and where students, faculty and community would not
be able to walk to many of the events associated with a local high
school.
I lived
in Doylestown when I went to school at Lansdale Catholic. I feel it
is unlikely that I would have chosen a school in Hilltown and would
have probably attended another archdiocesan or even a public school
in stead. I also have a nephew attending St. Rose of Lima. I feel
that my brother and sister-in-law would think twice before sending
him to a Hilltown school versus a more convenient Lansdale Catholic.
LANSDALE CATHOLIC NEEDS TO STAY IN LANSDALE AND IT NEEDS TO BE
UPDATED BADLY. 2 OF MY SONS GRADUATED FROM LC MY 3RD LEFT AFTER HIS
FRESHMAN YEAR BECAUSE THE OPPORTUNITIES WERE LIMITED BY THIS OLD
FACILITY PLEASE UPDATE THE CURRENT FACILITY SO THAT THE TRADITION
OF LC CAN CONTINUE
Take
the planning of such issues out of the Diocese hands. They appear
to make wreckless decisions that are NOT in anyones interest. They
foolishly sold all of LC's land and haven't been accountable for
letting the property deteriorate. A modern day Monsignor Cahill
type leader will reinvigorate the community, not the diocese
fumbling administrators.
Coming
from a feeder parish in Ambler, PA, it is very unlikely that I would
consider sending my children to Hilltown if I lived in the area
still. And, with the proposed closing of Kennedy/Kenrick as well, I
would be forced to send my children to public school. Has the
archdiocese considered that?
Changing a schools location does not alter academics. Strong
academics and Catholic direction are crucial. If the location of LC
is changed I truly believe the distance from most of the current
students' redidences would adversely affect the new Hilltown student
population. WHo keeps pushing for this? No ne seems to look at the
logistics.
Leave
LC where it is, and upgrade the building and property. A new school
in Hilltown is much too far away for my children to travel to.
Lansdale is the center of Catholic population, why would you move
the high school to Hilltown?
I think
lc is better off where it is.
I'm a
LC alum and mother of two children--one just graduated and one will
be a sophomore at LC this year--don't forget about all of those
after school practices and the ability for the students to get a
quick bite to eat in Lansdale and go back to school for practice or
a game and also use the facilities of nearby gyms to aid in their
sporting goals without having to travel miles away--what about all
of the volunteers and coaches who live closer to Lansdale or who
work closer to Lansdale or can get to Lansdale easier than the
remote location in Hilltown--those volunteers and coaches are giving
of their time will they do it if they have to travel to Hilltown?
Keep
the Lansdale in Lansdale Catholic!
What
happen to the money the Archdiodise had when they sold the land
across the street? There is a development there now?
Keep LC
in Lansdale!!! It is a very central location for all the feeder
parish schools. As third generation LCer with too many relatives to
number it is important that it is kept in Lansdale for tradition and
for practicality!
Lansdale Catholic is not just a school - its an institution for all
of the good catholics who have grown up in the area and want to
continue to send their children there. LC was never about money and
it never should be about money. What it lacks in facilities it
makes up with spirit & values.
LC is
the cornerstone of the community. If it goes to Hilltown then there
is no reason for ANY alumni to make any contributions (afterall, it
is NOT Lansdale Catholic any more)!
t would
really be ashame to close such a wonderfully located facility.
Lansdale Catholic saved me from having to go to High School in
Allentown, moving it to Hilltown would be even more inconvenient.
Most people in the lower areas (Doylestown, Chalfont etc) would go
to Archbishop Wood, so there really is no reason to move LC. Add
on, Expand up and over-do whatever is necessary to keep it at its
current location!
LC
should secede from the Archdiocesan school system.
We had
our six children go to LC and we would hate to see the school leave
the Lansdale area.
If
parents truely want their children to have a Catholic Education they
will do whatever is necessary to get them to their school of choice,
closing L.C. and building a new one in Hiltown makes no sense. In
my estimation if it was built, within a very short period of time
there would not be enough enrollment to justify keeping it open.
I feel
strongly that Lansdale Catholic should remain in Lansdale. The
opportunity for a Catholic education would be taken away from
families in areas south of Lansdale. A new school should be built
to accommodate families in Bucks and upper Montgomerty counties "in
addition" to keeping the Lansdale Catholic facility for families in
Lansdale and southern Montgomery county. This would alleviate LC's
overcowding and keep open the opportunity for a Catholic education
instead of being closed out. Thank you for your efforts and best
wishes for success in keeping LC alive!
I feel
that the relocation of Lansdale Catholic is not necessary with the
option of upgrading the existing technology of the present site. As
an LC alum, one of the primary reasons that I remained in the
Lansdale area was the intention to send my own children to Lansdale
Catholic.
